Scoop (page 1 of 4): Mayan cichlids (Mayaheros Urophthalmus) having a Mullet spawn feast
along the banks of the Caloosahatchee River Delta in FL’s Lee County. These fish are not
supposed to exist let alone thrive in this area. First recorded in the very south of the state during
the early 1980's, they have made their way north... Since the spring of 2018, when I became
curious after seeing a few, their population has grown visibly, warming waters in their favor.
