<Vision of Pele, Goddess of Volcanoes and Fire in Hawaiian mythology; Image composition from an original photograph by © Wolf Peter Weber, depicting an imaginary profile of Pele the Hawaiian Goddess as it appears from lava rock, the Pacific Ocean and lava fumes>
Here’s another image that came about under extraordinary circumstances, and as a surprise.
Though here I saw something, a fleeting appearance, while shooting wildly. Wildly, because
I had to run back and forth with the surf, not because of the water but rather what was
floating in and on it: Burning chunks of lava washing ashore in a constant ebb and flow.
What a weird, adrenaline-pumped moment of my adventurous existence. If ever I was
hallucinating, right there, in an imbroglio of heat and nocife fumes, thunder and hissings
of two awesome elements colliding.
